Tweaking our morning routine for earlier bus

District moved the bus from 7:35 to 7:25, and our current sequence (wake 6:45, breakfast 7:00, out-the-door block 7:10–7:22) is now tight. If you’ve handled this, what adjustments saved 5–10 minutes without waking kids earlier — shifting teeth/hair to pre-breakfast, consolidating a single launch station with water bottles and slips, or a laminated checklist by the door?

, the sock hunt was killing us, so we moved socks and shoes to right after wake-up; now the ‘out-the-door block 7:10–7:22’ is just grab backpacks and leave, and it freed about 5 minutes. Caveat: it only works if breakfast isn’t messy — otherwise we wipe hands or use slip-ons; would ‘shoes-first’ fly at your house?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

We set a 7:05 smart-speaker chime and made it the ‘forks down, shoes on’ moment, so the 7:10–7:22 block is pure exit mode; it reliably shaved about 6 minutes for a 7:25 bus… If you hate alarms, a visual timer by the table works too — would your crew respect a ‘when the song ends, shoes on’ rule, @rachel_d42?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

And , our 7:25 bus change forced this too. We made ‘7:00 breakfast’ portable — smoothies + granola bars prepped the night before — so shoes/backpacks happen while they sip, and it shaved 6–8 minutes without moving the 6:45 wake. Piggybacking on @anna_watts23’s cue idea, a quick “bus song” at 7:08 triggers out-the-door; are your kids okay with eating on the move or is table-only a rule?

Pre-scoop cereal, bowls/spoons out nightly; ‘breakfast 7:00’ becomes 3 minutes… Want a simple checklist?
