Navigating toddler tantrums in childcare

I’ve been working in childcare for a few years now, and I’m seeing more frequent emotional outbursts, especially around transitions. Does anyone have effective strategies for helping toddlers express their feelings without chaos? It seems like a common challenge, and I’d love to hear how others are managing it.

But one thing that’s worked for me is offering them a specific ‘feelings corner’ with tools like plushies or feelings charts to help them express what’s going on instead of just acting out. Have you tried something like that?

I find that offering choices really helps during transitions. For instance, giving them a couple of options on what activity to do next can ease the frustration. Have you tried using choice boards to guide them through the day?
