Creating Sensory-Friendly Play Spaces

I’ve been exploring how to create more sensory-friendly play areas for the kids I care for. Simple adjustments like using soft lighting and varied textures seem to make a big difference in engagement and comfort. I’d love to hear any tips or experiences you all have to share about individualized care strategies that help kids feel more at ease.

I found that incorporating a small water table for sensory play makes a huge difference, especially for kids who enjoy tactile experiences. It allows them to engage with different materials, and you can easily switch up the items in it for variety. I’ve seen them spend hours at it, but just be mindful of supervision since it can get a bit messy.
